IPL 2022: CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan claims Dhoni’s decision to quit captaincy was SURPRISING, says “I did not expect it from MS at this point of time”
The CEO of the franchise, Kasi Viswanathan has stated that Dhoni’s decision took him by surprise, though he also is confident that this Dhoni’s decision will be beneficial for the team. “When I heard the news, I was a little bit surprised. I did not expect it coming from MS at this point of time,” Viswanathan said in a video uploaded by CSK.
He expressed his confidence in Dhoni by further elaborating “Whatever MS does, as far as CSK is concerned, he will do it in the best interests of the franchise. He is been one of the most important players a captain, a wicketkeeper, an all-rounder, for CSK. I think whatever he does, whatever decision he takes, will be the right decision for CSK because I know he has the interests of CSK foremost in his mind.”
Dhoni was reportedly planning to quit captaincy for some time now, which has been confirmed by Viswanathan who said “I spoke to Jaddu in the evening when we went for practice. He told me that MS had indicated to him last year after IPL that he will have to take on more responsibilities.” Chennai Super Kings will start their IPL 2022 campaign on Saturday with a game against Kolkata Knight Riders, as Ravindra Jadeja will aim to start his captaincy stint with a victory.
