Taapsee shared the teaser on her social media handles, in which she is seen beautifully portraying the role of Mithali Raj as she is going out to bat in front of a packed stadium. “In this Gentlemen’s sport, she did not bother to rewrite history ….. instead she created HER STORY! #AbKhelBadlega #ShabaashMithu Coming soon! #BreakTheBias #ShabaashMithu #ShabaashWomen #ShabaashYou,” the on-screen Mithali wrote on Twitter.

The teaser also has snippets of commentary from stalwarts like Ravi Shastri, Harsha Bhogle and Vivek Razdan, alongside a running text that reads – “The only Indian cricketer to score seven consecutive 50s in ODIs, captain in four World Cups. The youngest to score a Test 200. Playing for 23 years the gentleman’s game – a woman (sic).”

As for the film, Shabaash Mithu is directed by Rahul Dholakia and written by Priya Aven. The film was initially expected to release in February, but following a postponement, it is now all set to hit theatres in April of 2022.

The movie is based on the journey of Mithali Raj from being an outsider in a male-dominated sport to becoming one of the greatest Indian cricketers to have ever graced the sport. Apart from the Pink fame actor, Vijay Raaz will also star in this film and reportedly is playing a key role as well.
