Formula 1: FIA Report: FIA just admitted that seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton was robbed off his eighth world title after admitting race director Michael Masi made a “Human Error”. But FIA said it would not change the results of the controversial Abu Dhabi GP that saw Red Bull’s Max Verstappen winning his maiden world championship in the last lap. But Hamilton has maintained his dignity saying he isn’t looking for an apology even though the fans have slammed the farcical report. “I’ll read it maybe after the weekend, or something like that. Look, I wasn’t expecting an apology. It’s not really something I’m really focused on. We know that’s the way it is and that wasn’t going to probably happen,” Lewis Hamilton said.

With the report, FIA has shot itself on the foot as the world body admitted the mistakes made in the closing stages of the race when Lewis Hamilton was leading Max Verstappen by more than 10 seconds.

“But the fact is that at least there is that transparency, admitting to human error. I think that’s a positive step. We can’t go back and change the past, unfortunately, and so I just look at focusing on doing what I can do now. And trying to shape the future, working with this team, trying to get our car into a good window. We’ve got a bit of work to do,” Lewis Hamilton said.

A sport that is widely viewed by people, its result still has an impact on the drivers and their respected fans. A Human error caused by Michael Masi changed the outcome of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It also changed the fate of Lewis Hamilton as he was “robbed off” his eighth Formula 1 title.

Must congratulate @Ben_Sulayem & @fia for being the world’s first & only sports institution to have a “World Champion* By Human Error”! Bravo!
Every last one of you who endorsed this folly look absolutely stoopid (I know how to spell the word). #FiaIsPathetic #HumanErrorChampion— 💜Still I Rise (@JessFor44) March 20, 2022
But the fans didn’t appreciate the decision taken by FIA and have voiced their opinion against the decision. If technology can be used to change the outcome of any game in any sport, then the technology should be used. Humans tend to make mistakes but then it’s the technology that comes in.

Lewis Hamilton was certainly heartbroken after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last year. Lewis said, “Honestly, I haven’t seen the report. I saw it from a distance, but I’ve not read it, so I’ve been focused on getting the job done today.”
“We have delivered” 😂
All that you’ve delivered is a steaming pile of 💩! Your report was perfunctory and weak. The championship* is tarnished, tainted and illegitimate is the eyes of many around the world. #F1 is a clown show #HumanErrorChampion #RaceAgainstManipulation #F1xed https://t.co/Fi2uDmhMKL

Fans are not at all happy as they wanted a fair decision but it still won’t change anything. Max still is the reigning champion and Lewis will try once again to win his eighth title. However, we will share some reactions of the fans after the decision came out.
What is the meaning of rules if they are not followed or enforced?
We live in a world where men win in sports series for women and world championship titles are robbed from true champions because rules of the sport were violated.
Fix it.#HumanErrorChampion #F1xed #VoidLap58 pic.twitter.com/A5gQKLCDbe

Whatever the outcome was, it’s pretty obvious that the fans didn’t like it. It was something that they couldn’t digest as everybody was hoping for Lewis Hamilton to win. But, the FIA has taken bold steps and have launched VAR in the sport. Technology is not the savior of any sport but it surely can help in decision making.
