Football stadium ACCIDENT in Kerala- In an unfortunate event, a temporary gallery during a local football match collapsed on Saturday evening, leaving many injured while 15 are reportedly in critical condition. The podium which consisted of at least 200 people was seen crumbling and collapsing in a video viral on social media. The floodlight fell on the people trying to avert and flee the spot, with many getting trapped under it. People on the other side of the gallery rushed to the spot and tried to save people who were involved in the accident.
“Temporary gallery collapsed during a football match in Poongod at Malappuram yesterday; Police say around 200 people suffered injuries including five with serious injuries,” ANI reported.

The spectators flocked were more than expected and the gallery was holding more than its capacity, reports Matrubhumi. It is reported that over 8,000 people flocked to the stadium to watch the final match of the All India Sevens Football Tournament and the east stand held over 3,000 people, which is way higher than its capacity, police said. The accident happened just before the final match began.
According to the Matrubhumi report, Malappuram SP said that stern action will be taken again the organisers and the department will probe an investigation into the accident.
Several people who were injured were taken to Manjeri Medical College and Hospital and others were sent back home after being given first aid, said the report. The injured also included children.
