IPL 2022 : BIG next 48 hours for CSK, NCA report to decide Deepak Chahar’s availability status, CSK CEO says ‘replacement call only after that’
He is currently in Bengaluru, undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
The grapevine is that Chahar’s injury could be a major one that will keep him out of full IPL. CSK are now eagerly waiting to get the complete injury status report from the NCA.
CSK Waits for NCA report – In an exclusive conversation with InsideSport, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan stated that the franchise is awaiting for the report. According to Kasi, report should come in next 48 hours.
“We are yet to hear anything from BCCI or NCA in regard to status of Deepak Chahar’s injury. At this stage, we are not thinking of a replacement yet. Keeping fingers crossed at some stage he will be available,” Viswanathan told InsideSport.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is also injured – To compound the troubles for Dhoni’s team, opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad is also unlikely to feature from the start of IPL.
Gaikwad is nursing a hand injury that he sustained in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. Gaikwad also is with Chahar at the rehabilitation centre in NCA.
- Deepak Chahar sustained a right quadriceps tear on 20th February, in a T20I match against West Indies.
- The pacer is currently undergoing rehabilitation at NCA.
- The exact timeframe of Chahar’s return is not known yet, but it is being feared that he will miss a significant portion of IPL 2022.
- If Chahar is unavailable for majority of the season, CSK might have to rope in a replacement.
- Besides the pacer, opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad is also nursing an injury and is recuperating at NCA as well.
