- Rohan Bopanna is having a good season as he started off the year by winning the Adelaide International 1 Men’s Doubles title alongside partner Ramkumar Ramanathan.
- He then partnered Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the Adelaide International 2. The pair made a first-round exit.
- At the Australian Open too, the Indo-French pair faced first round defeat.
- Bopanna once again partnered with Ramkumar Ramanathan at the Maharashtra Open and the duo won their second title that too in their home turf.
- He then paired with Denis Shapovalov at the ATP Rotterdam event. The duo lost in the quarter-final after putting up a good fight against fourth seeded Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski.
- The unseeded Indo-Canadian duo then went till the final of the Qatar Open where they once again lost to Skupski-Koolhof pair.
- Bopanna then partnered with Aslan Karatsev in the Dubai Tennis Championship and the pair lost in the first round.
- At the Indian Wells, Shapovalov rejoined Bopanna and the duo defeated eighth seed Bruno Soares and Jamie Murray in straight sets in the first round.
- Meanwhile Santiago Gonzalez & Edouard Roger-Vasselin are partnering for the first time this year.
- They enter into the contest after defeating Sander Gille and Matwe Middelkoop in straight sets in the first round.

Shapovalov and Bopanna have a good understanding between them as they have played quite a few tournaments together and that will give them the edge in the upcoming game. They will look to continue their performance like the Qatar Open and are eyeing their first title together this year.
