If Ponting leaves for Australia, then Shane Watson will take over coaching duties. Earlier, the CSK player was announced as the assistant coach of the DC for the upcoming season of IPL. Watson has a plethora of experience in the IPL and knows to deal with the players.

Apart from Watson, James Hopes also is one of the mentors in the DC camp. Hopes is the bowling coach of the franchise. He also arrived with Ponting in Mumbai.
