Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur scored glittering centuries as India women put on a score above 300 batting first against the West Indies Women on Saturday. Opening the batting, Mandhana received support from Yastika Bhatia but quick meant that she soon found herself partnering Harmmanpreet Kaur.
Despite the fall of wickets, Mandhana continued to be the glue of the Indian innings allowing both Yastika and Harman to bat freely. The 25-year-old eventually reached a scintillating century. This is Mandhana’s 5th ODI century and the 2nd in ODI World Cups, having scored a century in the 2017 edition against West Indies. She was eventually dismissed for 123, one of the highest scores in India Women’s World Cup history.

Harmanpreet Kaur also hit back at her critics with her 4th ODI century, which saw her jump to the top of the leading run-getters t the Women’s WC. Kaur, who scored a valiant 71 in the last game, accelerated at key moments to ensure that India went past the 300-run mark. The Indian vice-captain also became only the third player to score 3 World Cup hundreds.
