The defending champions are currently training at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat. In the training clip released by the franchise, the 19-year old all-rounder can be seen doing his warm-ups and practicing his bowling. He is then involved in a chat with CSK’s fielding coach Rajiv Kumar and puts on his batting gear. He is seen batting in the net beside MS Dhoni. The captain can be seen giving some valuable tips to the youngster. Later in the video, like the skipper, he also takes on the bowlers in the nets by smashing them for huge sixes.
The 19-year old Hangargekar came to limelight in the recently concluded U-19 World Cup where he impressed with his bowling and batting skills. He generated good pace and took five wickets in six matches. With the bat, he smashed a 17-ball 39 against Ireland, a knock that included five sixes, with three of them coming in the last over. Hangargekar was picked by CSK in the IPL 2022 mega auction, for a whopping 1.5 crores.
