A similar crude challenge through the back of the Pole shortly afterwards led to a VAR review to determine if it had occurred inside the area and after it was determined that was the case, Lewandowski again effortlessly stroked home from 12 yards.
Moments later, he completed a stunning 11-minute hat-trick when a big defensive mix-up saw him block a clearance onto the post before following up to tap in the rebound to move past Sébastien Haller as the season’s top scorer in the competition with 12.

Lewandowski completed his hat-trick in the 23rd minute of the game, the earliest hat-trick scored in a Champions League game since Marco Simone in 1996 (24 minutes), as per OptaJoe in the tweet below. Two of the Polish striker’s goals were from the penalty spot, but that certainly won’t bother the 33-year-old.
