The Pakistani team is currently short of options as their frontline speedster Haris Rauf has tested positive for COVID-19. Youngster Naseem Shah, who was initially a reserve player in the squad, has been selected as Rauf’s replacement with Abbas joining the reserves contingent.

Notably, besides Rauf, three other key players have also been ruled out of the series in Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz. Pakistan will play three Test matches against the Aussies, which will be followed by three ODIs and one T20I. The first Test will commence on 4th March, at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
