Haas also dropped their sponsor Uralkali from the third day of the pre-season testing in Barcelona. However, the main discussion remains regarding Mazepin’s future. Given the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, it seems unlikely that Russian driver Mazepin will be able to continue in F1 if Haas cuts ties with his sponsor. Check out drivers who can replace him:

Pietro Fittipaldi

The first name that comes to mind is Pietro Fittipaldi. He was also the first name mentioned by Haas’ team principal, Guenther Steiner. Pietro is the reserve driver for Haas and also filled in for Romain Grosjean in the last two races in 2020. Grandson of the legendary driver, Emerson Fittipaldi, Pietro has won some titles in his younger years which included a World Series Formula V8 3.5 in 2017. He never showed signs of being a worthy F1 driver when he drove in the DTM, IndyCar, and Formula 3 Championship. The two races that he pitched in were nice but it still remains a question how he will cope in F1.

Antonio Giovinazzi

Antonio’s name comes up as he has experience in Formula 1. A former Alfa Romeo driver, Giovinazzi had lost his seat in F1 at the end of the 2021 season to Valtteri Bottas. He is the reserve driver for Ferrari this year. Antonio has experience on his side and can be helpful for Mick Schumacher as well in his progress.

Callum Ilott

Another young driver to look out for is Callum Ilott, who is a Ferrari junior. He currently competes in the IndyCar championship, but was previously linked with a move to F1. He is a part of the Ferrari Program and was supposed to be in action for Haas in 2020. But, his debut in the first free practice session fell apart due to poor weather conditions.

Oscar Piastri

The man who perhaps deserves an F1 seat the most is Oscar Piastri. He took the motorsport world by storm winning the Formula 3 championship in 2020 and then Formula 2 in 2021. But sadly, Alpine could not provide him with a seat.

Nyck de Vries

Another driver who was the talk of the season was Nyck de Vries. He missed out on a seat at Williams despite getting a recommendation from Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff himself.

Nico Hulkenberg

Nico Hulkenberg also has Formula 1 experience under his belt. He had to leave Renault at the end of 2019 and paved the way for Esteban Ocon. His three good performances at Racing Point in 2020 didn’t get him a seat for 2021. Since last year, he is the reserve driver for Aston Martin.
