“When I played in Australia, I trained once in the nets alongside Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc and, I watched them closely and tried to learn from them and the skills they had, such as reverse-swinging the ball, were simply amazing” Haris Rauf said who worked as a net bowler in Ashes 2019.

- He was at the New South Wales training session at the start of the 2017-18 season.
- Later, Melbourne Stars plucked him as a stand-in for boom recruit for his role model & gun pacer from SA Dale Steyn.
“We were in desperate need of a fast bowler,” Stars coach David Hussey told cricket.com.au. “The first time I actually laid eyes on him was when he came to the MCG nets.
- Rauf’s quickly became a success with 20 wickets in 10 games which also featured a hat-trick against the Sydney Thunder. It promoted him into Pakistan’s limited-overs teams.
- However, it remains to be seen whether Rauf can translate his white-ball heroics in Test cricket.
- Seam-friendly Rawalpindi surface could see Rauf handed his maiden cap at hometown.
