Batting at number 3 in the series in Virat Kohli’s absence, Iyer made the most out of the opportunities. He has scored 204 runs in the series and remained not out in all the three games, scoring at a strike rate of 174.
In the first match of the series at Lucknow, he scored 57 off just 28 balls. In the second T20I, he helped India chase 184, by scoring 74 off 44 balls. With another half-century in the third T20I, he has also become the fourth Indian after Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul to score three consecutive half-centuries in T20Is.
The 27-year old was adjudged Man of the Series for his brilliant knock in the series. Speaking during the post-match conference, when asked to pick his favorite knock of the three, he said, “Obviously, all three fifties were special for me. But yesterday, winning the series…so yeah the last one has to be very special. To be honest, you require just one ball to get in form. I’m really happy with whatever opportunities I got this series.”
