Pro Kabaddi League: The eighth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League is finally over. After 64 days of intense action that saw 12 teams indulging in a fierce battle with each other, finally Dabang Delhi defeates three-time champions Patna Pirtes in the final to win their maiden title. The entire season saw several players performing exceptional well for their respective teams. Many performances have enthralled the fans and some players have become new household names. Pawan SehrawatPawan Sehrawat – Bengaluru Bulls
Pawan Sehrawat, racked up the maximum raid points in the league. He finished the season by scoring 304 raid points in 24 matches and is the only raider to score more than 300 points this year. The experienced campaigner also racked up 27 raid points in a single match against Dabang Delhi K.C recently, which is the maximum raid points scored by a raider in a single season. Under Sehrawat, Bengaluru Bulls had a good run in the tournament, by reaching the semi-finals.
Mohamadreza ShadlouiMohammedreza Shadloui – Patna Pirates
Iranian all-rounder has emerged as the star defender for the new-look Patna Pirates. Playing his first PKL season, Mohammadreza Shadloui had a terrific debut and has emerged as the leader of Patna Pirates’ defence. The tall youngster picked up 89 tackle points in 24 matches, which is the most by any defender in this season. His solid performance in defence has been very crucial for the Patna Pirates. Though he didn’t have a good final, he is having a great future ahead.
Naveen KumarNaveen Kumar – Dabang Delhi
Playing just his third season of the marquee league, Naveen has already emerged as a talismanic raider with his brilliant performances. This year, he became the first player to reach 100-raid points and secured seven consecutive super 10s in as many games. Naveen brings with him a fresh energy and with quick feet movement, he has become someone who is very difficult to tackle. However, he suffered an injury mid-way through the season and missed few games that provided a setback to Delhi. He has however returned back to form and scored Super 10 in the semi-final and final to help his team win their first title.
SagarSagar – Tamil Thalaivas
Sagar, who just played his second season of the PKL had an excellent year with the Tamil Thalaivas. Under the guidance of the experienced Surjeet Singh who led the team, Sagar emerged as the team’s best defender. He has scored 82 tackle points and also has has the most second most number of High 5s in the season (8). He was retained ahead of the auction this year and he has proved why the team backed him by displaying his excellent tackling skills this season.

Mohit Goyat
Mohit Goyat was one of the men responsible for the tremendous resurrection of the Puneri Paltan this season. In just his debut season at the Pro Kabaddi League, Mohit Goyat has already become one of the main players for the Puneri Paltan. Puneri Paltan is a team that has big names like Nitin Tomar and the Showman Rahul Chaudhari in its ranks. But both the players have not performed to their potential which has made coach Anup Kumar bring in youngsters like Mohit Goyat and Aslam. The move paid off very well as Paltan started clinching victories. Mohit has scored 159 raid points in 21 matches. He will be the one to look out for in the upcoming seasons. He won the young player of the season award this year.

Vijay – Dabang Delhi
Dabang Delhi’s Vijay has done an exceptional role for his team. Playing for Dabang Delhi, he played a terrific second fiddle to Naveen Kumar in the raiding department. When Naveen was injured he did his best to fill his shoes. In the defence too, despite the presence of big names like Manjeet Chillar, Joginder Narwal and Sandeep Narwal, Vijay has shown his skills. He played a very crucial role in the final with two super raids to help his team clinch victory. Vijay has picked up 157 raid points and 23 matches and has also picked up 5 tackle points.

Haryana Steelers’ defender Jaideep enjoyed a terrific debut in the Pro Kabaddi League. He finished the season as Haryana Steelers’ highest scorer in terms of tackle points, having scored 66 points. Despite the presence of the experienced Surender Nada in their ranks, Jaideep has emerged as the team’s best defender The team struggled initially in the season but Jaideep’s contribution in the defence has been immense and the team was in contention for a spot in the playoffs until the last day, only to lose to Patna Pirates in the end to get knocked out.
