- India pacer Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 International series against Sri Lanka due to a hamstring injury.
- The in-form bowler had suffered the injury during the third T20 International against West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday.
- Chahar took 14 wickets in 15 matches in the last IPL edition. He bowled at an excellent economy rate of 8.35.
- He is a powerplay specialist for Dhoni for the last three years as he has taken 59 wickets in 63 matches. He is known to break the backbone, i.e., top order of the batting lineup during his first 3 overs in the powerplays.
As per India Today, Deepak Chahar has suffered a Grade 2 hamstring tear and it will take somewhere around 5-6 weeks to make a full recovery. Meanwhile, IPL 2022 is scheduled to start during the last week of March.
“The team has sought no replacement as vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah is already in the side,” the official added.
The T20 International series against Sri Lanka begins in Lucknow on Thursday.
