Arsenal 2-1 Brentford: Arsenal secure victory in their Top-4 hunt
Arsenal gave their top four hopes a shot in the arm with a well deserved victory over Brentford. Alexandre Lacazette thought he’d given Arsenal the lead when he tapped in Kieran Tierney’s cross after 13 minutes, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
The Gunners then thought they deserved a penalty in the 38th minute, when Cedric’s shot appeared to hit Yoan Wissa’s arm. But instead, a corner was awarded. The breakthrough finally came early in the second half, when Emile Smith Rowe fired low into the corner for 1-0.
Bukayo Saka then made it 2-0 11 minutes from time when he finished in off the post after being set up by Thomas Partey. Christian Norgaard pulled a goal back for the Bees late on, but it wasn’t enough.
