Both the teams enter the tie after winning their last game. While Islamabad won a very close contest against Karachi Kings by just one run, Peshawar Zalmi trounced Quetta Gladiators by 24 runs. Both the teams are eager to inch closer to the playoffs as the tournament nears its business end. Islamabad will be without the services of Alex Hales who withdrew from the tournament citing personal reasons. He was the highest-run scorer for Islamabad United so far this season. With Ireland opener Paul Stirling too away on international duty, Islamabad United have to play with Colin Munro and Rahmanullah Gurbaz at the top of the order.

Islamabad will also play without skipper Shadab Khan, who will sit out of this match after sustaining a groin injury. All-rounder Shadab Khan has been a vital part of United’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) campaign this season. United will not only miss Shadab’s leadership when they take the field, but they will also miss his batting performance. He has played crucial innings for his team, scoring 232 runs in seven matches played in the PSL. The leg-spinner has also delivered with the bowl as he has taken 17 wickets, and he is the leading wicket-taker.

For Peshawar Zalmi, their openers Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Haris have shown good form. Zalmi also can bat deep as they have a strong line-up comprising Liam Livingstone, Shoaib Malik, Hussain Talat, Sherfane Rutherford and Ben Cutting. All these batsman have contributed this season, making Zalmi a batting-heavy unit. The biggest challenge for the Zalmi will be to contain the run flow especially in the powerplay.

Without Alex Hales and Shadab Khan, Islamabad looks a slightly weaker side. Wahab Riaz’s men will look to utilise this opportunity. However if Islamabad batters can fire on all cylinders, then they will hold an advantage against Zalmi. Both the teams are desperate for a victory and the match promises to be an exciting affair.
