The Pune team, under coach Anup Kumar, have Young raiders Mohit Goyat and Aslam Inamdar, who have catapulted them to a possible place in the Playoffs. The work is still not done, and they will need to beat a strong Tamil Thalaivas team to make it to the eliminators. Nitin Tomar’s emergence as a reliable all-rounder will add more depth to the cover defence. Pune’s strength has been the confidence of their young players and they will be eyeing a victory.

Thalaivas will hope their defensive combination of Sagar and Surjeet Singh can conjure up some early-season form to stop the young raiders of Pune. Even the Tamil team stand with an outside chance of making it to the playoffs. Thalaivas’ raiding combination of Manjeet and Ajinkya Pawar doesn’t have the same multi-point ammunition as Bulls’ Pawan Sehrawat or Bengal’s Maninder Singh but they are consistent and will take the bonus points on offer but will not offer quick elimination of the opponents from the mat. Therefore, it is vital for the Thalaivas to be aggressive in their defence. Sagar, captain Surjeet Singh and the other defenders will need to take a risky approach and trust their skills against Pune’s raiding unit.
