Islamabad United beat Karachi Kings: Karachi Kings beame the first team to get eliminated from the title race in the 2022 Pakistan Super League as they lost their seventh game of the season against Islamabad United by just 1 run at Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore on Monday. In a dramatic finish, Islamabad’s left-arm fast bowler Waqas Maqsood dropped a catch off his final ball but still ran out Chris Jordan to clinch a one-run victory. Chasing a target of 191, Karachi Kings got off to a poor start. Skipper Babar Azam got out to a quick and short delivery from young pacer Zeeshan Zameer. But iopener Sharjeel Khan scored a blistering 29-ball 44 runs. However batters too Joe Clarke and Sahibzada Farhan failed to perform yet again. When they were staring at yet another defeat, Imad Wasim and Qasim Akram stitched a 108-run cameo to give hopes to the Karachi Kings unit.

In the last over all they required was eight runs. Waqas Maqsood came on to bowl and Wasim hammered Maqsood (3-34) to fine leg for a boundary off the second ball before he holed out at mid-off off the next delivery. Needing two runs off the last two deliveries, Maqsood held his nerve to clean bowl Jordan Thompson off a slower delivery before hitting the wickets at the non-striker’s end after dropping Jordan’s return catch to give Islamad a one-run victory.

Earlier in the contest, Islamabad United’s batters delivered with the bat after a slow start to the game. Skipper Shadab Khan was the top scorer of Islamabad United as he scored 34 runs in 26 balls before getting bowled out by Imad Wasim. Asif Ali and Faheem Ashraf also scored blistering innings, Asif scored 28 while Faheem scored 29 to help them set a target of 191.

By virtue of the win, Islamabad jumped to No. 3 with eight points from seven games behind table-toppers Multan Sultans (12 points) and Lahore Qalandars (10 points).
