KKR CEO Venky Mysore stated “First of all, delighted with how the first session went for us. To get back Pat Cummins at that price, actually, we thought he would go at a higher price so we are delighted with that. Obviously, Shreyas is a quality Indian batter, so that’s fantastic and we are very excited.”

On being asked about who will be the captain, he said “That is the decision the coach and think-tank will take. We need to digest the activities of the auction. Between Cummins and Shreyas, you have two solid options for captaincy.

Speaking about his team combination, Lucknow Supergiants owner Sanjiv Goenka said “We are very happy with the way it’s gone so far. We have got our top preferences as of now and it’s gone well so far for us. We have got a great opener in Quinton, a very good all-rounder in Jason Holder. We have two quality Indian batsmen. Out of the seven people we had in the squad so far, I think there is a balance beginning to emerge. So far, it is very much on track for us.

Likewise, from our perspective, we secured the targets we were looking for. To have a world-class spinner in there is really important to us. To back it up with a bowler who can take wickets upfront and a gun batsman, we are really happy with what we have done in first two rounds,” Rajasthan Royals’ CEO Jake Lush McCrum said.

Explaining his team’s business at the table, Punjab Kings’ co-owner Mohit Burman said “For us, it was important to get some senior Indian players on our side. Regarding captaincy, not in a position to answer that. We will decide once the auction is over and our coach Anil Kumble will make that call. Let’s see what he decides. Hopefully, what we put in the squad will change out fortunes.
