IPL 2022:5 uncapped Indians who are already millionaires – The excitement, build-up, and anticipation about Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auctions has reached a peak among fans and experts.

It is that time of the year when a player’s fortunes are made or broken. February 12 and 13 is the D-day for several franchises, wherein they will either break the bank or not raise the paddle for players in the auction. The IPL mega auction is set to be held in Bengaluru and 600 players are expected to be under the hammer.

Earlier, the eight existing franchises submitted a list of players they choose to retain. While there were no surprises in seeing the names of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma being retained by the respective franchises, the surprise came in the form of players like Abdul Samad and Umran Malik retained by SRH.

Here we take a look at the uncapped Indian players, who had been retained by the franchises ahead of the mega auction

Arshdeep was retained by PBKS

 

1: Arshdeep Singh (left-arm fast bowler – retained by PBKS for 4 crores)

Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh emerged as one of the brightest spots for PBKS in their otherwise dismal IPL campaign. He first made his debut for the franchise in 2019 and went on to be a permanent fixture in the team in the 2021 edition of IPL. The 23-year-old picked up 18 wickets in 12 games for PBKS and was their standout bowler.

The PBKS management were impressed by his performance and he was their second player retained apart from Mayank Agarwal.

2: Yashasvi Jaiswal (Left-hand batter – retained by Rajasthan Royals for 4 crores)

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s pyrotechnics with the bat last season for Royals last season earned him retention worth 4 crores. The left-hand batter also became the second-youngest player to be retained across all IPL teams. The youngster has so far played 13 IPL matches and has scored 289 runs at a strike rate of 136.32.

He formed a crucial partnership at the top with Jos Buttler and was instrumental in the team getting off to good starts.

IPL 2022: Umran Malik will play for SRH

3: Umran Malik (Right-arm fast bowler – retained by SRH for 4 crores

SRH pacer Umran Malik made heads turn when he clocked speeds of above 150 in IPL 2021. His stocks soon hit the rooftop and the SRH franchise did the wise thing to retain him ahead of the mega auctions. The Jammu & Kashmir pacer bowled the fastest ball of the IPL to Devduut Padikkal. In the absence of T Natarajan, Malik grabbed his chances with both hands.

Such was his impact that SRH did not retain their number one bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Malik played three games for SRH in 2021 and picked up two wickets.

4: Abdul Samad (SRH batter retained by 4 crores )

Abdul Samad was the other youngster from SRH who managed to impress in whatever chances he got. The Jammu & Kashmir player’s ability to clear the ropes with nonchalance caught the attention of quite a few onlookers of the game.

Samad’s has so far scored 222 runs in 23 matches. He is also a handy bowler. SRH have trusted his finishing abilities and have given him a long rope.

5: Ravi Bishnoi (leg-spinner –Signed by Lucknow Super Giants for four crores)

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi caught the attention of fans and critics in the Under-19 World Cup in 2020 edition. He was India’s leading wicket-taker and managed to make the right noises ahead of IPL 2020. The youngster was signed up for PBKS. He immediately made a mark by bowling well on the big stage. He was not afraid to fight the delivers and was always on the hunt for wickets.

He played 23 matches for PBKS and has taken 24 wickets. Ahead of the mega auctions, he was signed by Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping amount of 4 crores. Surely Bishnoi is here to stay for a long time.
