IPL 2022 Mega Auction: With the IPL Mega auction just a day away, the BCCI has released a list of 13 players who are all either banned from bowling or under watchlist for having an illegal bowling action. Players like India’s highest wicket-taker in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup Vicky Ostwal, Vidarbha’s pacer Darshan Nalkande, Saurashtra’s left-arm spinner Dharmendrasingh Jadeja are among the 13 names. According to BCCI, out of these 13 players, three players have been banned completely from bowling. While the remaining 10 players will be under scrutiny. Their bowling will be monitored and they could face a potential ban if they are called again for suspect bowling.
- The 3 Players who are banned from bowling are Manish Pandey, Karnataka’s KL Shrijith and Jharkhand’s Ishank Jaggi.
- While Manish Pandey and Ishank Jagg have registered themselves under the batsmen category, KL Shrijith is a wicket-keeper. So their ban from bowling wouldn’t affect their fortunes when their name comes up at the auction.
- The remaining 10 players who are under the watchlist are Vicky Ostwal (Maharashtra), Darshan Nalkande (Vidarbha), Dharmendra Singh Jadeja (Saurashtra), Apoorv Wankhade (Vidarbha), Sudip Chatterjee (Bengal), R Samarth (Karnataka), Arpit Guleria (Himachal Pradesh), Jay Bista (Uttarakhand) and Azim Kazi (Maharashtra).

Vicky OstwalVicky Ostwal
Vicky Ostwal had a brilliant U-19 World Cup, picking 12 wickets and emerged as India’s highest-wicket-taker. While he is expected to attract lot of bids at the auction, his name featuring in this list might make francises to think twice before going after him at the auctions.
Darshan NalkandeDarshan Nalkande
23-year old Darshan Nalkande made headlines during the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this year as he became the second Indian to pick four wickets in four balls in the domestic T20 tournament. He has spent two years with Punjab Kings already but is yet to make his IPL debut. He was the fifth-highest wicket-taker in the SMAT 2020-22.
Dharmendrasinh JadejaDharmendrasinh Jadeja
Saurashtra’s 31-year old Dharmendrasinh Jadeja has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit over the last few years. He has played 47 T20 matches and picked up 34 wickets. He is yet to earn an IPL contract. He has taken 7 wickets in 6 matches in the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Arpit Guleria
Arpit Guleria is a 24-year old right arm medium pacer from Himachal Pradesh. He has just played six first-class games and eight List A matches. He is yet to make his T20 debut for his state side.
While the four aforementioned players have slotted themselves primarily as bowlers in the upcoming auction, Jay Bista and Azim Kazi come under the all-rounders category. Kazi is a slow-left arm bowler who has picked up seven wickets in four matches in the SMAT 2021-22. Jay Bista bowls off-spin but rolls his arm only occasionally. The remaining players Apoorv Wankhade, Sudip Chatterjee and Ravikumar Samarth are primarily batsmen.
