I think it was Ray Jennings at the time coach who approached me. I remember playing Champions League in South Africa and shortly after that, the retentions were going to take place. He came and wanted to chat. He said that we [RCB] want to retain only you.
I replied, ‘That’s great, the opportunity I am looking for but I told them very clearly, there’s only one condition, I will only bat at No.3 and nowhere else. They said fair enough. I knew I can do something special for the team. I had no problem accepting that responsibility and for the team to feel they can count on me.’
