FIFA Club World Cup 2021: Chelsea vs Al Hilal – The new year 2022 brought along with it the much anticipated 2021 FIFA Club World Cup as the winners of the individual football Federations compete amongst themselves to win the prestigious club of the world title. The competition taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) started on the 3rd of February. Title favorites Chelsea will feature in the semi-finals on 9th February. FIFA Club World Cup 2021: Chelsea eyeing to become the Club of the World in UAE – All you need to know

This tournament that began on 3rd February will conclude on the 12th of February. The star attraction of the competition would be the English club Chelsea FC who will play directly in the semi-finals of the tournament after winning the prestigious UEFA Champions League in 2021 after defeating English rivals Manchester City.

A total of 7 teams are participating in the FIFA Club World Cup. These seven teams are Palmeiras, Chelsea, AL Hilal, Al Ahly, Monterrey, As Pirae, and Al Jazira. Each of the 7 teams has their respective rounds in which they enter the tournament. Chelsea and Palmeiras are the two sides that will feature directly in the semis, while Al Hilal, Al Ahly, and Monterrey entered into the second round of the tournament. Hosts Al Jazira and nominated by the Oceania Football Confederation side As Pirae entered into the first round of the tie. 

The first round fixture saw Al Jazira comprehensively defeat As Pirae by a scoreline of 4-1, as the host team made their way into the second round. The steady progress of the host side was halted after they were humiliated by Al Hilal who defeated them with a scoreline of 6-1. In the other fixture of the second-round game, Al Ahly registered a narrow victory over Monterrey by defeating them 1-0.

The tie for the semi-finals looks extremely interesting as Chelsea takes on Al Hilal and Al Ahly face Palmeiras. The finals will take place on the 12th of this month when the winners of the two semis lock horns with one another to capture the title. Ahead of their semis tie, tournament favourities Chelsea has released their 23-man squad for the competition. 

Chelsea squad : Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcus Bettinelli,  Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, Malang Sarr, Cesar Azpilicueta, Reece James, Kenedy, Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Saul Niguez, Ross Barkley, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Romelu Lukaku.

The fifth-place tie between Monterrey and Al Jazira will take place on 9th February while the match for deciding the 3rd placed team will take place before the finals on 12th February.
