But just two minutes later, Jordi Alba earned himself a potential Puskas nomination after his volley from the top of the box smashed into the far top corner and it kick-started Barcelona’s comeback. As Atleti’s attack mellowed, the hosts were surging with energy after the equaliser.

With the man advantage, the visitors continued to try and close the gap yet despite the best efforts of Ángel Correa and Daniel Wass, they couldn’t turn things around. The result means Barcelona move into fourth while Atleti are fifth.
