IPL 2022 Auction: Back from the suspension, veteran right-arm pacer S Sreesanth has had quiet time with the ball in the few domestic matches he got to play. The much-awaited IPL mega auction is less than a fortnight away. The event is going to take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. While the BCCI released the final auction list yesterday that has 590 cricketers from across the world. Sreesanth has listed himself for a base price of Rs 50 lakh.

Immediately after the list was released yesterday, Sreesanth took to Twitter and posted a heartfelt message to express his gratitude. Love u all..can’t thank u all enough..lots of gratitude. Thnks a lot..#grateful and alwys will be grateful to each and every try one of u..plss do keep me in ur prayers for final auction too..”om Nama Shivaya..”

The 38-year old Sreesanth was regarded as one of the best right-arm fast bowlers in the country and he was part of the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 World Cup-winning squads. In 2013, while he was playing in the IPL, representing Rajasthan Royals, he was arrested in Mumbai for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing alongside his teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.

He was initially punished with a life ban but it was later reduced to a seven-year suspension. The ban ended on 13 September 2020 and he was allowed to play all forms of the game. He represented his state team Kerala in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, marking his return to the competitive cricketer.

He registered for the IPL auction last year but his name was not selected in the final list.  This time he has been selected in the final list and it remains to be seen whether the 38-year old bags a contract on the auction day.
