PSL 2022: Karachi Kings face big blow as Imad Wasim, Jordan Thompson test positive for COVID-19

PSL 2022: Babar Azam led Karachi Kings faced a huge blow on Thursday as the team’s former skipper Imad Wasim and international player Jordan Thompson tested positive for Covid-19. Karachi Kings play the opening match of the Pakistan Super League without these players. PSL 2022: Karachi Kings face big blow as Imad Wasim, Jordan Thompson test positive for COVID-19

According to a report, these two players tested positive hours before the start of the season’s opening match against defending champions Multan Sultans. Karachi Kings also missed the services of fast bowler Mohammad Amir after he suffered an injury. Kings’ four overseas players for this match are Joe Clarke, Mohammad Nabi, Tom Lammonby and Lewis Gregory.

 Ever since the teams assembled in the bio-bubble at Karachi, players and support staff from different teams are getting affected by Covid. Two days ago, Karachi Kings president had tested positive for COVID-19 too.

Among other franchises, Quetta Gladiator all-rounder Shahid Afridi also tested positive for coronavirus earlier today and was sent home by the team management for his seven-day quarantine. As per local media, Afridi has been sent home and will be reintegrated to the Quetta Gladiators squad after seven days once he tests negative and completes his isolation. Before rejoining PSL’s bio-bubble, he will have to spend further three days in quarantine.

Apart from Afridi, Peshawar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz too tested positive and will miss his team’s opening game against Quetta Gladiators which is scheduled to be held tomorrow. Four days back, the PCB said three cricketers and five members of the support staff from different franchises had tested positive for COVID-19.
