On playing inside the Bio-Bubble
The league which was held annually every year since 2014, was forcibly stopped for nearly two years after the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020. The league has marked its return this year and is being held for the first time at a single venue with all the matches being played inside a bio-bubble at The Sheraton Grand, a luxury hotel in Bengaluru.
“COVID pandemic is going on and it doesn’t feel that good but we cannot do anything about it. As the season progressed, I’ve become habituated to playing in the bio-bubble,” Pardeep Narwal said.

The pandemic-enforced lockdown for several months during 2020 and 2021 was also a tough period for sportspersons as they had to find alternative ways to train and keep themselves fit.
“In my village, there are mostly mud grounds and we practice regularly. It is great way to work on fitness and that is what I did during the lockdown to make sure I keep myself fit,” Pardeep Narwal said.

At the start of this season, ‘The Dubki King’ however struggled for form. He only managed to pick up two Super 10s in the first nine matches. But his lean run has come to an end as in the last three games, the raider has scored 39 Raid points, including two Super 10s. When raised a query about his inconsistency at the start of the season, Pardeep revealed that he was nursing an injury when the season began.
“Before the start of the season, I got injured. As I came back from the injury, I did not do well in the games early on. Slowly, I’m getting my rhythm back. We still have lot of matches left. I will do my best and will definitely perform well,” Pardeep Narwal said.

On Indian Kabaddi team
Later this year, the Indian Kabaddi team will be competing in the 2022 Asian Games at Hangzhou, China. It will mark the return of the Indian Kabaddi team in action after nearly three years. Pardeep believes that the PKL this year will help the players get match practice as well as break into the national team.
“As for PKL, it is great for the selectors as they get to see the players in action and it is also good for the players to showcase their talent and break into the national team,” Narwal signed off.
