Steve Smith: This came as a surprise to many when the former Australian captain set a base price of 2 Cr in the upcoming IPL 2022 tournament. Questions are to be raised after the 32-year-old Australian batter’s form in IPL in 2021 where he scored just 152 runs in 8 innings with an average of 25.33. Nathan Lyon: Premoniantly a Test cricketing legend for Australia with over 415 wickets, 34-year-old bowler Nathan Lyon has not made a mark for himself in white-ball cricket. With 29 ODIs and 2 T20Is, it came as a surprise for many when Lyon registered himself to the IPL Auctions for the first time in his career for a base price of 1.5 Cr. A player established in the test format of the game will likely remain unsold owing to his high base price.
