Covid Strikes PCB: After BCCI, Covid-19 strikes Pakistan Cricket Board offices, 10 staff members test positive

Pakistan Cricket Board10 PCB Staffers Test Positive: The infected members have been isolated after their tests came positive, the board said in the statement, adding that the tests were conducted last week.

The PCB has said that all coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be followed and all meetings will be virtual, while the staff will strictly abide by the protocols.

The third wave of COVID-19 had also affected BCCI housed in Cricket Centre in Mumbai.  The building in the premises of the Wankhede Stadium that houses the headquarters of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) were shut in 2nd January due to multiple Covid cases.

Fifteen MCA staffers and at least three BCCI staff members had contracted COVID-19. The MCA office had been forced to down the shutter of its office for three days.

BCCI since than is operating with minimum staff at the office while the others are working from home.

“Yes, there have been a few positive cases as COVID19 cases are rising in Mumbai. 90 per cent of the staff are working from home, while a minimal staff is working from the Board office. The office is open though, we haven’t shut it,” A BCCI official told PTI.

It is also understood that all three BCCI staffers who have have been diagnosed COVID-19 positive – two from the finance department and one from cricket operations wing – have been isolated at home.

Due to Covid-19 related issues, BCCI had to postpone Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments indefinitely.

Earlier this month, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was also hospitalised after testing positive.
