“I didn’t give my name for auction, no, I think that there’s a lot that we need to do for this team, which deserves all of my energy. I really hope I get the opportunity to do it. I’ll keep sacrificing as much as I can because I care so much about Test cricket in our country and trying to get us to where we can,” the England captain said after the fifth and final Ashes Test in Hobart on Sunday.

IPL Auctions Players List: Root is not the only one who has decided to stay away fromt the auctions scheduled for February 12 and 13 in Bangalore.

Steve Smith is another player who is doubtful for IPL this year.

“I’ve signed up for the auction at this stage. I’ll probably have a bit more of a think about it before that auction date”, Australian captain Pat Cummins declared recently.

He added, “At this stage, I plan to do the IPL. I have no advice for anyone else. I think you’ve got to be aware of workloads, it could be a lot of time on the road, some people manage that better than others, you have to know what you’re signing up for”.

IPL 2022: Root, Starc, Cummins set to ditch IPL Auctions, will top England & Australian cricketers stay away from IPL?

Will top England cricketers miss IPL ? Situation for the England cricketers is little more serious. After drubbing at the hands of Australia in Ashes, the country vs IPL debate is raging in England.

Most of the experts, former cricketers are of the view that top players need to stay away from IPL and prepare themselves for the international challenges.

Joe Root has declared he is not coming to IPL. Ben Stokes is also likely to stay away from the auctions along with Mark Wood. Jofra Archer is injured and will not put up his name for the auctions.

”Stokes will sit out this year’s tournament, which will feature 10 teams for the first time and be preceded by a mega-auction in which there are plenty of spaces to fill,” London’s Evening Standard reported.

”Stokes has had a tumultuous time over the last couple of years, with the death of his father Ged 13 months ago preceding a long break in 2021 to prioritise his mental health and fix a finger badly broken at the IPL,” it wrote.

Pressure is mounting on other cricketers like Johny Bairstow, Ollie Robinson and others also to skip IPL this year.

“Players should not miss international duty to play in the IPL, nor be rested and rotated to allow them to play elsewhere. The carry-on during the winter, and at the start of the English summer, should not happen again,” Former England captain Mike Atherton wrote in his column for ‘The Times’.

IPL Auctions Players List – Player registraiton window extended till 20th January

Meanwhile the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended the deadline up to January 20 for enrolment in the mega auction. The earlier deadline was finishing on 17th January but now it has been extended to 20th January.

InsideSport reached out to BCCI officials to check response to the player registration window. Contrary to the information coming in from Australia & England – BCCI official sounded excited about the players response from top international boards.

“As always we have got great response by top international players. At the last count more than 600 players had registed themselves for IPL Auctions”, said one of the IPL Governing Council member.
