Meanwhile, the Barcelona captain edged Jennifer Hermoso (Barcelona/Spain) and Sam Kerr (Chelsea/Australia). Érik Lamela was named as the Fifa Puskás Award winner for 2021 after scoring an impressive rabona for Tottenham against rivals Arsenal.

Best FIFA Awards 2021: Who won the Best FIFA Men’s Player 2021?
It was Robert Lewandowski and Alexia Putellas who won the Best FIFA Men’s and Women’s player 2021 award respectively. Lewandowski looked genuinely delighted to be the winner here, and spoke about breaking Gerd Müller’s Bundesliga record this year. Alexia Putellas won the Best FIFA Women’s Player of Year Award 2021. She is the first women Spanish player to win the award.
Lewandowski scored 58 goals in 47 games in all competitions in 2021, which included breaking two long-standing records previously held by the legendary German striker Gerd Muller. He bagged 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season for Bayern, and 43 Bundesliga goals in a calendar year.

The Polish striker has scored 34 goals in 27 games so far this season, including nine in the Champions League group stage. The 33-year-old was presented the award in Munich surrounded by Bayern’s chief executive officer Oliver Kahn, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic and head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Best FIFA Awards 2021: Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has been honoured by FIFA for becoming the all-time leading goalscorer at the international level. The Manchester United legend has now scored 115 goals for Portugal, breaking Ali Daei’s previous record of 109 goals.
Ronaldo received a special in-person award at what was largely a virtual ceremony for FIFA’s The Best ceremony in Zurich on Monday. He expressed his gratitude by being present for the ceremony and receiving this huge honour from FIFA.
