On Friday morning, the eight white-ball specialists had their first training after completing mandatory three-day quarantine in Cape Town. While the Test specialist were busy defending 111 runs on Day 4 at Newlands, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suryakumar Yadav, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Prasidh Krishna, Venkatesh Iyer and Yuzvednra Chahal toiled hard at the nets.

The eight white-ball specialists will be joined by Virat Kohli and skipper KL Rahul and vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah amongst other multi-format players on Monday. The three-match ODI series will be the first time Virat Kohli will be playing under someone since taking over the mantle from MS Dhoni in 2013.
From the Test squad, ODI skipper KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur Jayant Yadav, Navdeep Saini will join the ODI team in Paarl while Mohammed Siraj remains doubtful due to his hamstring injury. Washington Sundar who was named in the ODI series was ruled out after contracting Covid-19. He has been replaced with Jayant Yadav.
The eight members of the team had a week-long camp in Bengaluru before they departed for South Africa. While Rohit Sharma was to take over captaincy from Virat Kohli, he was ruled out due to an injury. KL Rahul was named captain while Jasprit Bumrah vice-captain.

Team India will have a chance to regain some confidence after the disappointing end to the Test series. Under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, India came back strongly from the Test series defeat and claimed the ODI series 4-1 in 2018. This time, under KL Rahul’s captaincy, the aim will be to repeat that feat.
