The 2022 Free Fire esports circuit for India, featuring four major tournaments, has been revealed by Garena. The prize pool for the four events is more than INR 2.7 crores ($364.9k USD). During each quarter of the year, one of the four major tournaments will be taking place, and two of these tournaments will provide Indian teams opportunities to compete in global events such as the Free Fire World Series (FFWC). During the Garena Free Fire tournaments, every participant and team will have the opportunity to qualify and demonstrate their skills. Besides the major tournaments geared entirely towards the competitive arena, we also plan to hold a lot of community-focused events.
Detailed roadmap of the Free Fire 2022 Esports Tournaments in India
In addition to the four major tournaments and community evxents that are part of the upcoming Free Fire competition in India, Garena has shared a lot of information regarding the upcoming competition.
Free Fire Pro League (FFPL) and Free Fire India Championship (FFIC) will be the two major tournaments that will constitute the 2022 circuit. The total prize pool for each pro season will be more than INR 1.35 Crore ($182.4K USD).
Here are the four major Free Fire events, that Garena will be hosting in India in 2022:
- Free Fire India Championship 2022: Spring
- Free Fire Pro League 2022 Summer
- Free Fire India Championship 2022 Fall
- Free Fire Pro League 2022 Winter
These major tournaments will happen every quarter of the year, and Garena ensures that these competitions will be open to all teams and players, giving everyone a chance to compete against the best.
Format for the Free Fire India Championship
It is intended that FFIC tournaments serve as qualifiers for Free Fire competitions in various countries. Teams from across India will compete for the prize pool of INR 1 Crore ($135.1K USD). The winning team will have the chance to represent their country on an international stage.
Qualifying for an FFIC event can be accomplished in two ways:
- Having finished in the top six in the previous FFPL season.
- Having battled through the open qualifiers and obtained a top 12 spot in the closed qualifiers of the FFIC tournament.
The competitive season in 2022 will begin with the FFIC 2022 Spring tournament, which will be composed of six directly invited teams that qualified through the FFPL 2021 Winter tournament.
Format for the Free Fire Pro League
The purpose of FFPL tournaments is to serve as qualification for FFIC competitions.Twelve finalists from the previous season of FFIC and six teams from the open qualifiers will be participating in this tournament.
A total prize pool of INR 35 Lakhs ($47.3K USD) will be awarded to the teams from across India participating in FFPL. Teams in the top six will directly qualify for the following season of FFIC. The teams placing 7th-12th will not have to participate in the open qualifiers for the next season of FFPL.
Format for the Free Fire India Championship 2022 Spring
The top six teams from FFPL 2021 Winter will be directly seeded into FFIC 2022 Spring, while the next six will qualify directly into the closed qualifiers.
By participating in the open qualifiers, 12 teams will make it into the closed qualifiers, where they will join the six direct invitees, who will then compete for the remaining 12 slots in the league stage. In addition, the top 12 teams from the league round will qualify for the Grand Finals of FFIC 2022 Spring.
