Manuel Locatelli began the comeback with a deft header before Dejan Kulusevski bundled a strike home after a scramble in the box to draw Juve level. The visitors then took the lead courtesy of a fine finish from Mattia De Sciglio. However, the drama was not over as Matthijs de Ligt was sent off for handball in the Juventus box. Pellegrini had the chance to level from the penalty spot, but was denied by Wojciech Szczesny. The Bianconeri held out in the closing stages to secure a momentous victory.

Scorers: Abraham 11′, Mkhitaryan 48′, Pellegrini 53′; Dybala 18′, Locatelli 70′, Kulusevski 72′, De Sciglio 77′; After an extremely bright start, Roma took a deserved lead when Jordan Veretout swung a corner in for an unmarked Tammy Abraham to head home from inside the six-yard box.

But after restricting Juventus to nothing in the opening 18 minutes, Roma undid much of their good work as one slight lapse on the edge of their own area allowed Paulo Dybala the freedom of the Olimpico to curl into the corner. That joy was short-lived though as things took a big turn for the worse for the Old Lady, who lost Federico Chiesa to a worrying looking knee injury before half-time and then conceded again shortly after the restart to a wicked deflection on Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s strike from range.

Things soured further when Giallorossi captain Lorenzo Pellegrini curled in a free-kick that former skipper Francesco Totti, watching on from the stands, would have been proud of. But from the brink of defeat, Juventus somehow pulled themselves off the canvas in as two goals in the space of two minutes via close range finishes from Manuel Locatelli and Dejan Kulusevski stunned the shellshocked home side.

And they weren’t finished there as the unbelievable comeback was completed when Mattia De Sciglio became the unlikely hero by drilling in at the near post for his first Serie A goal in 1,505 days.

Somehow, the drama still wasn’t finished in as Matthijs de Ligt was sent off for a handball in the area with 10 minutes left but from the resulting spot kick, Pellegrini fluffed his lines with a weak attempt that Wojciech Szczęsny saved to secure a stunning win from a Serie A classic. Juve close the gap on the top four to three points with the victory, while the Lupi are nine off the Champions League places.
