At InsideSport, we take a look at the 3 biggest roadblocks that can hinder history that awaits CapeTown Test.
Dean Elgar
South Africa skipper has proven to be bone of contention for Team India in their effort to script history on SA soil. His grit & determination prevented India from continuing their winning run at Johannesburg. The captain boasts of a phenomenal record at CapeTown with 700+ runs which features a century and a couple of fifties across 10 matches at the venue. He scored 77 runs in the opening Test and a match-winning unbeaten 96 at Wanderers Stadium.
Kagiso Rabada & Lungi Ngidi
SA pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada is another threat for India batsmen. He has taken record 35 wickets in just six tests at CapeTown. The Proteas pace battery has already troubled India at Centurion & Johannesburg. Meanwhile, Lungi Ngidi is another threat who has been phenomenal against India in the ongoing series. The batting unit needs to come up with a new solution to tackle the swing.
While Rabada has scalped 13 wickets in two Tests, Ngidi returned with 11 scalps including a fifer to demolish India batting in the second innings at Centurion.
Cape Town Weather
The Capetown Test is likely to be affected by bad weather which has continued to hinder the Test series. India will be hopeful that the Rain threat doesn’t prevent a result in the last game as Virat Kohli & Rahul Dravid will be on the verge of a very special record in South Africa. The previous best is India drawing a Test series under MS Dhoni’s leadership in 2011. India has lost six Test series in South Africa with just 4 Test victories.
Cape Town Weather forecast: Thundery showers & a gentle breeze could play spoilsport on Day 4 of the third & final Test at Newlands, Capetown
