Swindon 1-4 Manchester City: Cityzens ease past Swindon Town in Emirates FA Cup 3rd Round in Pep Guardiola’s absence
City will be pleased with their outing in Guardiola’s absence. They racked up 23 shots and managed the game capably, while Palmer made the most of his opportunity in the starting 11. Swindon were never expected to win this match, but McKirdy’s goal means they’ll leave the County Ground satisfied. It’s City who’ll be in the fourth round draw, while Swindon’s FA Cup adventure ends for the season.

Swindon 1-4 Manchester City: Man City defeat Swindon Town
Despite no Pep Guardiola and multiple players out due to COVID-19, Manchester City were able to cruise past Swindon Town. Bernardo Silva, in particular, was in his groove throughout the first half relentlessly testing the League Two side before eventually finishing off a pass from Cole Palmer for 1-0.
Over time, more pressure from City resulted in Gabriel Jesus doubling the lead. Yet despite the visitor’s grip on the match, it wasn’t all one-way traffic and the hosts had a few chances of their own. City’s defenders, however, did enough to clear any threatening opportunities alongside Harry McKirdy’s chip failing to beat the reach of Zack Steffen.

Coming out after the break, the momentum continued in favour of the visitors and İlkay Gündoğan made things 3-0. Two minutes later there was a chance for City to grab a fourth but Jesus’ penalty was stopped by Lewis Moore Ward.
Not down and out just yet, persistent Swindon managed to pull one back as McKirdy slotted the ball home on the counter seeing hometown fans erupt in the stands. However, despite the spark, the hosts couldn’t do enough to complete a comeback and Palmer made things 4-1 late in the game.
