In light of what has been a turbulent and hugely disruptive festive period due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, United are one of the league’s teams who currently have at least two games in hand.

Looking to improve on their current position of seventh, Rangnick will be hoping to secure a win against Wolves and propel his side up to fifth and level on points with West Ham United.

Rangnick: “Victor [Lindelöf] was still positive [for coronavirus] — Harry [Maguire] received that knock on his chest or whatever in the game against Burnley, so we thought it would be good again tonight. Yesterday he was trying but he even had too much pain.”

Rangnick on Phil Jones: “From what I have seen so far, i can only speak from the last four weeks in training, he was extremely professional even when he wasn’t in the squad — for me, he was the logical choice [to start today].”
