Kohli, Pujara tons at the venue
India captain Virat Kohli & Cheteshwar Pujara will look to repeat their 2013 heroics and bring an end to their century jinx. While Kohli hasn’t smashed a century since November 2019, under-fire Pujara has failed to reach the triple-figure mark since January 2019. Kohli has amassed 310 runs in just 2 Tests at the venue which features scores of 119 & 96. Pujara has also scored 329 runs in a couple of Tests which includes 153 in 2013. If the duo or any of them contributes with the bat then India will be in a commanding position.
Jasprit Bumrah & Mohd Shami’s special record
The in-form pace attack of Jasprit Bumrah & Mohammad Shami had scalped fifers during their last outings against Proteas at the venue. Shami, in particular, has taken 11 wickets in just two Tests which includes 5/28 while Bumrah’s best includes 54/5 which included the prized wickets of Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis & Quinton de Kock. Now, only Dean Elgar and Temba Bavuma will be among experienced batsmen in the South Africa lineup.
