Manchester United Stadium upgrade: With the New Year dawning, Manchester United has announced exciting plans to expand OLD TRAFFORD which has moved a step closer and set to choose a master plan to oversee a widespread upgrade. With the current capacity of 74,140, it is understood that an upgrade in capacity would increase the total capacity to nothing below 80,000 seats. Follow the latest Football news on InsideSport.IN

They have held meetings with architectural and engineering companies and have described some of the potential ideas as ‘exciting’. While talks are ongoing, and the selected plan will be refined, it can be disclosed that both general admission and corporate areas will be revamped and extended.

Many areas of the ground will be improved, with a number of several new additions being considered. For several years the presence of a railway line behind the South Stand has presented logistical expansion issues. However, advances in technology mean that is no longer the problem it was.

United has been presented with plans to increase the capacity of that stand which include options going up and over the top of the adjacent line. It can also be revealed that the club has now appointed a master planner to oversee a revamp of their Carrington training complex, with the aim to turn it into one of the finest practice facilities in the world.

The proposals will also turn the complex into what chief operating officer Collette Roche told a fans forum would be ‘a fully integrated, three-group facility’ for their men’s, women’s and academy sides.

Manchester United Stadium upgrade: Official Statement

Initial meetings have taken place between the club and a number of architectural and engineering companies to present their credentials as potential partners for the project.

“These meetings have produced exciting potential ideas, although it’s important to note that we’re still at an early stage and it’s premature to talk about timetables,” Collette Roche, Manchester United’s Chief Operating Officer, told a meeting of the club’s Fans’ Forum.

Roche said United had an open mind about the best approach to modernizing Old Trafford but the intention was to remain on the same site and take a phased approach so the team would not need to move away.

No decision has been made on the scope or budget of the project, nor on any potential capacity increase. The final plan would be “based on analysis and on consultation,” said Roche, with “no preconceived ideas or limits”.

Old Trafford is the largest club football stadium in the UK with a capacity of 73,000 and one of the most iconic in world football with 111 years of glorious history as United’s home ground.

The stadium has gone through multiple phases of development and redevelopment through the decades and Roche said fans would be closely consulted as plans evolve for this next chapter in its evolution.

stadium redevelopment plans are expected to be a key focus of the Fans’ Advisory Board (FAB), which is due to hold its first meeting early next year as a new channel for board-level dialogue between the club and the fans.

Roche said the creation of the FAB was an “historic step that will establish a new model for fan engagement in English football and, ultimately, improve the club’s decision-making”.

The Chief Operating Officer also provided an update on ongoing talks between the club and Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST) on a proposed Fans’ Share Scheme.

Barcelona £1.3BILLION Nou Camp renovation – Spanish Football club Barcelona in a referendum on Sunday night approved new financial plans including an additional 1.5 billion euros that will enable the club to renovate its iconic but languishing Camp Nou stadium and its surroundings.

The priority is stadium renovations aimed at having the new Camp Nou ready by the end of 2025 with work starting next year to expand capacity to 105,000, making it Europe’s largest stadium.

Real Madrid ‘New’ Santiago Bernabeu with space for NFL, basketball and tennis events – The Los Blancos have released a stunning video of the new design of their famous Santiago Bernabeu stadium. The Spanish giants are arguably the most successful club in footballing history, having won 34 La Liga titles, and reigned European on 13 separate occasions.

With a current seating capacity of 81,044, the Bernabeu has been the home stadium of Real Madrid since its completion in 1947. Just as is the case with the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, this would allow Real to host NFL, basketball, and tennis events moving forwards.
