AFG vs NED: Afghanistan to play in Qatar- Afghanistan’s hopes of hosting a cricket match on home soil will have to wait as Doha, Qatar will be their new home. Rashid Khan & Co will host the Netherlands in a three-match ODI series in January that will be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The series was scheduled after Australia postponed their only Test match against Afghanistan. Follow Netherlands tour of Afghanistan Live Updates on InsideSport.

The three-match ODI series will begin on January 21 with the second and third game set to be played on January 23 and 25 respectively. All three games will be staged at Asian Town Cricket Stadium, Doha, Qatar.

Afghanistan have played only one series of three ODIs in the Super League against Ireland earlier this year, winning all three games and carrying 30 points from the three matches they have played.

Afghanistan National cricket team will feature in seven three-match ODI series on home and away basis, including the upcoming home series against the Netherlands, followed by an away series against Zimbabwe in Jan-February.

The National team is scheduled to host Australia & Pakistan and will then travel to India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka in their away three series at the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League till 2023.

However, considering the war-torn condition in Afghanistan, it is unlikely that Kabul will get to host any matches. UAE was Afghanistan’s base for home matches but after fan trouble in the T20 World Cup, they have found a new home in Qatar.

The ICC Cricket World Cup Super League is a 13-team tournament that will take place across two years and will determine which teams qualify to the CWC 2023. India, who are the hosts in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, and the other top seven teams from the super league, will qualify automatically for the World Cup.
