NCA head: Jay Shah says VVS Laxman need to come ‘through the process’ to become next head at National Cricket Academy
“We will advertise for the NCA appointment. First, he (VVS) has to apply for the post,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah told PTI after their 90th AGM at Kolkata.
- Indian stalwart Rahul Dravid too had to go through a similar process before becoming the India head coach.
- Initially reluctant to shift base to Bangalore from Hyderabad, Laxman has already quit his role as a mentor of the IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad.
- He will also have to quit commentary or writing columns for newspapers to avoid conflict of interest. Laxman’s appointment was one of the points of discussion at the AGM.
Last month, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had hailed VVS Laxman for his devotion to Indian Cricket after he agreed to become the new NCA head. The former Indian batsman will be making a whole lot of sacrifices to take over the role, which would pay him significantly less than his current package.
