IND vs NZ Live: Gritty Mayank Agarwal falls after scoring 150 in another show of supreme conversion rate

He scored 215 against South Africa in Vishakhpatnam in 2019 and followed it with a 108-run in the following Test. In 2019, the right-hander played a scintillating 243-run innings against Bangladesh in 2019.

Mayank Agarwal hit a lovely cover drive to bring up his fourth hundred on Friday while batting in the first innings of the ongoing second Test against New Zealand in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

On the reaching the three-figure mark a thrilled Mayank jumped in air and roared in delight as everyone including coach Rahul Dravid at the Wankhede stood on their feet to applaud the fighting knock. A long hug between him and Wriddhiman Saha followed.

The Karnataka star on Saturday added 30 more runs to his overnight score of 120 and brought up his 150 with a cracking boundary through backward point. He lost his wicket on the very next delivery from Ajaz Patel – who has scalped all the seven wickets for New Zealand so far.

Agarwal, who was recently retained by his IPL franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 14 CR, fired 17 fours and 4 sixes during his 311-ball stay in the innings.

The innings becomes even more noteworthy as the under-pressure batsman showed tremendous grit and brought India back in the match after Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli departed one after the other on Day 1 of the series-deciding Test.
