India Playing XI vs NZ 2nd Test: Selection headache for Rahul Dravid – who will make way for Virat Kohli in playing XI?

NZ vs IND Tests in India

  • Draw- 17
  • India won– 16
  • NZ won -2

Team News

The return of skipper Virat Kohli is the only change on the cards of Team India. The openers Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal as well as experienced Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane could pave way for the captain. Shreyas Iyer is likely to stay in the playing XI but head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour have kept silent about Mumbai Test. Wriddhiman Saha will keep if he is fit else KS Bharat could make his Test debut.

On the other hand, New Zealand will be happy with their performance but William Somerville failed to make an impact. He ended wicketless in both innings. Thus, one can expect him to make way for experienced Mitchell Santner. Debutant Rachin Ravindra is expected to keep his place in the playing XI after his heroics with Ajaz Patel for the last wicket in Kanpur Test. Tim Southee was injured during the Test match but came back to bowl in both innings and made an impact. The Blackcaps might rest him for the upcoming Test which could bring Neil Wagner in for the Mumbai Test.
