WTA Finals Live: The opening round of WTA Finals 2021 saw disappointments, surprises and a thriller. Two-time Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza, Aryna Sabalenka, French Open Champion Barbora Krejcikova and Iga Swiatek will look to make comeback in the second round of WTA year-end. Karolina Pliskova vs Anett Kontaveit LIVE

  • Karolina Pliskova will take on Anett Kontaveit in the second-round clash of the WTA Finals on Saturday. Both the players have met each other on three occasions, with Pliskova leading 3-0. Pliskova and Kontaveit won their respective opening rounds of WTA year-end.
  • Karolina Pliskova defeated Garbine Muguruza in a three-set thriller. After losing the opening set, World no. 4 bounced back to beat Muguruza in the final two sets. Pliskova continues to have a better record against the Spaniard by leading 9-2 in their 11 meetings so far.
  • While Anett Kontaveit stunned French Open Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets of the opening round. Krejcikova struggled against a juggernaut of Kontaveit. Both the players have faced for the first time in their careers.
  • Karolina Pliskova is playing her fifth WTA year-end and reached the semifinals thrice in 2017, 2018 and 2019, while Anett Kontaveit has made her debut appearance on Thursday.

Garbine Muguruza vs Barbora Krejcikova LIVE

  • Garbine Muguruza will take on French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova in the second round of the WTA Finals on Saturday. Both the players have faced off thrice in their careers, with Krejcikova leading 2-1. Muguruza and Krejcikova lost their respective rounds of WTA year-end.
  • Garbine Muguruza lost to Karolina Pliskova in three sets. After having won the opening set, Muguruza failed to stop Wimbledon finalist from making a comeback in the next two sets. Muguruza continues to have a poor record against Pliskova, trailing 2-9 in 11 meetings.
  • While Barbora Krejcikova was stunned by Estonian tennis star Anett Kontaveit in straight sets. Both the players have met each other in their careers, with Krejcikova trailing with 0-1.
  • Garbine Muguruza is playing her fourth WTA Finals and reached the semifinals in 2015, whereas Barbora Krejcikova, who is having a breakthrough season, has appeared WTA year-end for the first time.

Maria Sakkari vs Paula Badosa LIVE

  • Maria Sakkari will take on Paula Badosa in the second-round clash of the WTA Finals on Sunday. Both the players haven’t yet met each other in their careers. Sakkari and Badosa won their respective opening round matches of WTA year-end.
  • Maria Sakkari registered her first victory of the WTA Finals by defeating former French Open champion, Iga Swiatek. Sakkari defeated Swiatek in straight sets. Both the players have third time in their careers, with Maria Sakkari leading 3-0.
  • While Paula Badosa made a statement by defeating World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka in round 1 of WTA year-end. Badosa left no room for Sabalenka and defeated her in straight sets. Both the players met for second in their careers, with Paula Badosa leading 2-0.
  • Paula Badosa and Maria Sakkari are playing their WTA Finals for the first time in their careers. Both will aim to take home prestigious WTA year-end title.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Iga Swiatek LIVE

  • Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek will take on each other in the round two clash of the WTA Finals on Sunday. Both the players haven’t yet met each other in their careers. Sabalenka and Swiatek have lost their respective opening matches of WTA year-end.
  •  World No.2 Aryna Sabalenka was defeated by Spaniard Paula Badosa in straight sets. Sabalenka couldn’t stop the juggernaut of Badosa on Tuesday. Both the players have met each other for second in their careers, with Sabalenka trailing 0-2.
  • While Former French Open champion Iga Swiatek couldn’t defeat in her third faceoff with Maria Sakkari as she lost to her in the three sets. Both the players met thrice in their career, with Iga Swiatek yet to defeat her.
  • Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek have made their debut appearance in WTA Finals this year.
