ENG vs NZ LIVE: Nasser Hussain, Jofra Archer back England to win T20 World Cup semi-final, hail “great” captain Eoin Morgan

England vs New Zealand: In their respective columns for Daily Mail, both Nasser Hussain and Jofra Archer have backed England to make it to the final as they prepare for their T20 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. Hussain and Archer have particularly written about how the team has dealt with adversity, especially with the host of injuries they have had before and during the tournament.

Jofra Archer wrote that England have a real shot at making history and it is their strength in depth that makes them favourites despite him, Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and now Jason Roy and Tymal Mills missing out from the squad.

He wrote, “In this team, someone always steps up and I believe that person could be any one of the XI who take the field in Abu Dhabi. It’s a strength of the team that it won’t always be the same person putting their hand up to contribute.”

He added, “Yes, there are key personnel missing but Eoin Morgan will be reminding the other players before the game that it is someone’s time to make a name for himself, to create history, to get us out of jail or get us off to a flier.”

England vs New Zealand LIVE – T20 WC Semifinals LIVE: Nasser Hussain meanwhile heaped praise on Eoin Morgan as the team prepares for a repeat of their classic ODI final from 2019, in which England prevailed on boundary count. The former England captain hailed the team’s effort as phenomenal as they reached the T20 World Cup semi-final despite their injuries.

Hussain wrote, “To have reached Wednesday’s Twenty20 semi-final against New Zealand here after losing so many players to injury — Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Sam Curran before the tournament, Tymal Mills and Jason Roy during it — is phenomenal.”

He added, “The one thing we know about England now is that they won’t choke on the big stage. They have a lot of high-pressure games behind them and Morgan has been involved in an IPL final before this tournament on top of all those international matches.”
