He is also India’s leading run-getter in all T20s and is closing in on the 10k mark.

3. Fastest to 8k, 9k, 10k, 11k, 12k runs in ODIs

Virat Kohli is the sixth highest run-getter in ODIs and has the most among current international players. Kohli’s consistency has been unreal at times, with the Indian captain scoring runs with some ease irrespective of the conditions and opposition on offer during the last decade. He is the fastest to reach the milestone of 8000, 9000, 10000, 11000 and 12000 runs in ODI cricket, and has the second most centuries (43) behind Sachin Tendulkar (49).

4. Most wins as Indian captain in Tests

Virat Kohli is the most successful captain for India in tests with the Men in BLue clinching some memorable wins overseas under his leadership. India have won a series in Australia, West Indies, Sri Lanka under his captaincy, and could add another feather with a series win over England next year. His tally of 38 wins is the third-most in history, behind Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting.

Virat Kohli is the leading run-getter in IPL history, having amassed over 6000 runs in the competition since its inception in 2008. Part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) setup since the beginning, Kohli has tallied a staggering 6283 runs at an average of 37.39, making him the most prolific batsman in the tournament’s history. He is almost 500 runs ahead of next best Shikhar Dhawan, further demonstrating his record.

6. Most runs, centuries in an IPL season 

Virat Kohli was at the peak of his powers in 2016 and had an unbelievable IPL season with RCB. Captaining the side, Virat scored a staggering 973 runs in just 16 games to lead his team to the final. Virat Kohli as captain upped his game in the longest format of the game, and his ability to churn out huge hundreds helped India clinch some memorable wins as they climbed to the top of the ladder of the ICC Test Rankings. Kohli has scored seven double hundreds in the whites for India, the most by a player beating the likes of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar.
