IND beat AFG Highlights: India keep semifinals hopes alive- Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul smashed half-centuries while Mohammed Shami bagged three wickets as India beat Afghanistan by 66 runs to keep their semifinals hopes alive. Sent to bat, India set 211 target with Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant playing quickfire knocks. Afghanistan in response could only score 144/7. The win meant, India’s net run rate finally moved to positive (+0.073) and Virat Kohli & Co moved to 4th place in Group 2 with 2 points from 3 matches.

T20 World Cup Semifinals Race: India still alive, check all possible…

India came into the game under pressure as any slip-up would have cost Virat Kohli & Co a place in their semifinals. But KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma hammered 69 and 74 respectively to set the platform with a 140-run opening stand. Promoted to No 3, Rishabh Pant and at No 4 Hardik Pandya were on song as their quickfire knocks helped India set 211 target for Afghanistan.

IND beat AFG Highlights: With the ball, India were excellent. After two matches where Indian bowlers disappointed, they made a fine comeback with Ravichandran Ashwin playing a crucial role with 2/14 after a comeback after four years. Mohammed Shami with 3/32 was the other bowler while Bumrah and Jadeja chipped in with a wicket each.

Chasing 211, Afghanistan were 47/2 after the powerplay as they stared down the barrel of a heavy defeat. Indian bowlers clawed further deep as Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Gulbadin Naib were removed before halfway point of their chase.

In the end, Afghanistan fell short 66 runs short of the target.
