Lamb reveals, ‘he has prostrate cancer diagnosis’- Former England captain Allan Lamb, who guided England to multiple Ashes titles, on Sunday revealed that he has prostate cancer. In a tweet post, he wrote, “I urge all men to go and get their PSA levels checked as prostate cancer so often goes undiagnosed. Having recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer, I have just completed a month of treatment. Put your egos aside — don’t be ignorant about your health.” A number of goodwill messages poured in for South Africa born batsman with multiple Ashes titles across three World Cups.

England Ashes hero Allan Lamb reveals, ‘he has prostrate cancer diagnosis’
Lamb made his Test debut against India in 1982 after he was named Wisden Cricketer of the year in 1981. In his first International tour in 1982/83 Ashes, he featured across all five Test matches with 414 runs at an average of 41. However, his first Ashes success came in 1985 where he scored 256 runs at 36 with a top score of 67.
In his Test career, Lamb scored 4656 runs at 36 which comprised 14 centuries. He played 79 Tests and guided England to victories 21 times. He was also a member of two successful Ashes campaigns (in 1985 and 1986-87).
He relished the big stage and scored 656 runs in the World Cup at 50.46 which is the fifth-highest WC batting average by England player.
He published his autobiography Silence of the Lamba after his retirement in 1996. He has also worked as a broadcaster for Sky Sports and other British TV channels.
